Monnickendam has a shopping centre including a supermarket, bakery, butcher, fishmonger and wine shop. There are also nice shops and restaurants nearby. Historic villages such as Broek in Waterland, Durgerdam, Zuiderwoude, Marken, Edam and Volendam, as well as Amsterdam, are just around the corner.
