Description
Modern living in the historic city centre in this exceptionally bright and spacious three-room flat on the first floor of 85m2. The flat is facing southwest with windows on three sides and a lovely balcony of 14m2.
The flat Montelbaanstraat 8 can be described as extremely comfortable. The building is completely built without natural gas and equipped with a heat pump for heating and cooling of the building.
Through the spacious central hall you can take the stairs or the lift to the first floor. Upon entering the flat, you immediately notice the depth: over 12 metres with 4 windows and the entrance door to the balcony. The erker in the living room and the second door to the balcony in combination with the longitudinal laid floor (with underfloor heating) accentuate the space/depth.
The open kitchen-island with drawers on both sides is cleverly positioned and cosy with the bar function.
Two spacious bedrooms with two windows each.
The luxurious bathroom has a walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. A second toilet is located at the entrance as well as a separate closet for washing machine and dryer.
Beautiful sustainable renovation project completed in 2018 with a transformation into 16 residential flats including storage rooms, balconies and a lift.
Each flat has an individual boiler that is provided with hot water by means of a geothermal heat pump, which also controls the underfloor heating. This "green" way of heating saves enormously on monthly costs. The monthly costs for electricity are
€ 29,-. Modern and clean, ahead of its time in the old town.
The location between the car-free Nieuwe Ridder- and Nieuwe Jonkerstraat is an oasis of peace. Via the Rechtboomssloot and the Oude Waal, the Montelbaanstraat is perfectly accessible by car. In addition, you can walk to Amsterdam Central Station in just 10 minutes. Several nice restaurants are in the vicinity.

History:
Montelbaanstraat 6 was built in 1932 as a Volkslogement for the Amsterdamsch Bouwfonds, designed by Pieter Vorkink. The Volkslogement was a simple hotel with 78 rooms, shared washing and showering facilities, a dining and recreation room and a reading room, where for example dockers and sailors could get affordable accommodation. After the war, the building was used as a homeless shelter under the name Walenburg.
