Living in the Canal District

The location is truly excellent. The Westermarkt with several tram and bus connections is just a short walk away, and Amsterdam Centraal Station can be reached in approximately ten minutes on foot.

In the immediate vicinity are the charming De Negen Straatjes, well known for their unique boutiques, galleries, cafés and restaurants. In addition, the lively Jordaan neighborhood is just around the corner, a district loved for its character, cozy restaurants and authentic Amsterdam atmosphere.

Here you will live in the historic heart of Amsterdam, with all amenities within easy reach and the unique charm of the canal district as your daily backdrop.

History of the Building

The building has a rich history. In 2004 it was placed on the municipal monument list due to its architectural significance and the aesthetic quality of its design. The current façade harmoniously connects with the older structure of the building, in which the 17th-century construction framework is still clearly recognizable. Characteristic elements include the mezzanine floor and the windows that decrease in height towards the top.

In the last quarter of the 19th century the building underwent a major renovation in which the original neck gable was replaced by an elegant cornice façade, entirely in line with the architectural fashion of that time. The sandstone ornaments were replaced with artificial stone versions. The original bluestone steps were preserved and, together with the bluestone base, create a stylish and authentic entrance. The façade—except for the basement level—is plastered in block pattern, with the bel-etage finished smoothly and painted.
