History of the Building
The building has a rich history. In 2004 it was placed on the municipal monument list due to its architectural significance and the aesthetic quality of its design. The current façade harmoniously connects with the older structure of the building, in which the 17th-century construction framework is still clearly recognizable. Characteristic elements include the mezzanine floor and the windows that decrease in height towards the top.
In the last quarter of the 19th century the building underwent a major renovation in which the original neck gable was replaced by an elegant cornice façade, entirely in line with the architectural fashion of that time. The sandstone ornaments were replaced with artificial stone versions. The original bluestone steps were preserved and, together with the bluestone base, create a stylish and authentic entrance. The façade—except for the basement level—is plastered in block pattern, with the bel-etage finished smoothly and painted.
