Surroundings:
Haarlemmerdijk has several times been voted the nicest shopping street in the Netherlands with boutiques, vintage shops, speciality shops (from cookbook shop to jeweller) and with everything you want as a resident (such as a pharmacy, key shop, hairdresser, and shoemaker). The house is in the heart of Amsterdam but away from the coffee shops and tourism.
At the end of the street is the famous cinema The Movies. Within walking distance is the Jordaan, Noordermarkt and Westerpark. The Westerpark is a great location for sports & recreation, but also has many cultural and culinary amenities. Daily shopping can be done in one of the supermarkets on Haarlemmerplein or Haarlemmerdijk or in one of the many caterers. Organic and farmers' markets are just a stone's throw away on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Accessibility by public transport is very good. Within fifteen minutes you can walk to Central Station, within ten minutes to tram line 5 and within two minutes to the bus stop (lines 18, 21, 22 and all drive within 4 minutes to Central Station).
